So, every time I look at the board, it shows a new post (orange) in Tabletop RPG. Then I open that forum, and it shows the Rose Colored Glasses as having a new post. But when I open it, there's no new post - it's always TheDungeonDelver's

Now, don't get me wrong - I like TDD's posts as much as the next geek. But this just has to end. I'm like a monkey trying to press the button to get food...and it's all a sham.

Did you try "mark topics as read"/"mark forum as read" features ?

Actually I have this problem over on another forum that I frequent. Only on two threads. Strange little problem.

I resynched the post counts and reindexed the board. Let me know if it is still happening.

It was still happening...until I tried boulet's suggestion of marking all of the topics as read. That seemed to do the trick.

boulet - the reason I brought it up is because oen shouldn't have to do that. Once you read a topic, it should automatically mark it as read for you. It's not a huge deal, it was just strange behavior...

I am now experiencing this phenomenon. What's more, when I click on the orange balloon on the side (which usually takes me to the last non-read post in that thread), it takes me to the very beginning of the thread.

Perhaps DungeonDelver has hacked the database so that he will always get the last word on the subject?

This happens over on the Citadel a fair bit as well. Near as I can tell, it has something to do with the cookie setting the last visit time, which is compared to the dates for posts in the database. Sometimes, it just gets stuck. I am still investigating.

I thought something like this - so I logged out and logged back in to see if I could get that to change the cookie.

Unfortunately, that didn't work either...

You can delete all cookies on the board.

I wonder if it has something to do with not having seen a new post on a previous page from the even newer post. To wit, if since the last time you looked, someone has posted the last post on, say, page five and someone else has posted a new post to begin page six, then perhaps if all you check out is page six the boards are letting you know you actually haven't seen all of the new posts.

Just a guess.
