Is that going too far?

No, not at all. Those are good ideas for characters.

From p3: "As a group, you can expand or contract the list as you go, at need. The demons, for instance, exist just now in a kind of limbo – maybe they'll exist and maybe they won't, depending on who chooses to play them and who doesn't. It's the same with individual horsemen and individual people of the region – if a player thinks of a young man of the region who's i love with the beautiful girl, for instance, or the chief horseman's right hand man, then there they are."

I would be good with the Bandit Captains bodyguard....helping her in hiding...part of a group of warriors picked to protect the woman captain; men who had to become eunuchs to do so but did so because of the great prestige involved in becoming one of these personal body guards.

Or is that too much?

Sounds good! Were you asking if you could play the bodyguard? Because that's the next step: everybody chooses one character from the list to play. The GM gets the leftover characters.

Yeah, the bodyguard....just trying to come up with something interesting but a little off kilter, so to speak.

Fine – Jim is the eunuch bodyguard, unless somebody wants to fight him for it.

While we wait for the others to come in, I'll lay out creating your chr. In any order:

* Give your chr a name.
* Copy your chr's description straight from the list.
* Choose whether your chr is going to have a particular strength. Particular strengths are unusual skills, magical arts, innate powers, treasures and allies (e.g. the exorcist in the rules example has Exorcism as a particular strength).
* Assign one die to each of the six forms. The forms are covertly, directly, for myself, for others, with love, with violence. The dice are a d12, a d10, a d8, 2 d6s, and a d4.

Your character also has best interests. We do those last in a sort of turn order.

Holy crap - Facebook!

I think this is correct:

1. A wandering Excorist, severe, who accepts no payment for his services but who lusts after carnal congress.
2. A bandit captain, in hiding, with her trusted bodyguard
3. A note written in elegant hand, sweetly perfumed, and the child messenger bearing it.
4. A simple insult, casually inflicted, striking very, very deep.

There's cerainly a demon there somewhere...maybe plaguing the Sultry Bandit captain (this likewise suggests what the Excorist may be up to).
The note writer, perhaps the Satrap of Konar Zandal, writing a proposal of marriage to the daughter of his rival the Shah of Shurupaak.

And lastly an insulter and and insulted...this one is convoluted...The bandits are actually no mere brigands. They are the remnants/decendants of a tribe of nomads who once served as Imperial Cavalry. Amongst their family and followers is a promising young sorcerer. The sorcerer has made numerous attempts to improve his standing and influence among the bandits. Most recently the leader of the captian's bodyguard insulted him in front of a gathering of the other bandit leaders.

Any of those you'd like to play, MZR?

I like something connected with the child messenger, but I can't quite figure out what's going on there.

(thinking in print here...) What is significance of the child? Is he or she a gift to the recipient (Shah of Shurupaak)? Does custom demand that marriage proposal be born by child relatives of the proposer? Is the child then the Satrap's child? What kind of escort does the child have?

I am leaning toward playing the child messenger, the heir of the Satrap of Konar Zandal. The note is a proposal of marriage between myself and the daughter of the Shah of Shurupaak. If this is the case, I would add at least one or two more characters to the list. The son of the Satrap has an "Amazonian" bodyguard* and a manservant.

*-The Satrap of Konar Zandal has had a personal bodyguard of women warriors for generations.

--OR--

I also like the young sorcerer in the bandit camp...

IIRC, it's one oracle per game, not per player.
In other words, we all create the characters from the same oracle cards.
