Saturday I ran a playtest of Volant: Kingdoms of Air and Stone, in which the characters did something completely unexpected. It was a blast!

Sunday I ran I Harm's Way: Napoleonic Naval, in which the tension mounted as the PC flotilla prepared their strike against the Pirates on Culebra.

Monday I started up an intermittent game of In Harm's Way: Pigboats, in which the players got to know their characters and began prepping for a nasty mission off Mindanao in 1943.

I was not at GenCon. This is my normal schedule... The second two games are over IRC :D

I will be playing in a Dr. Who ATS game this coming Saturday.
I'll let the board know how it goes.

The Dr. Who game was pretty good. It ended up being a fairly short session due to non-game complications. The pregenerated characters seemed to be faithful to the show. The boxed set had high production values, which is something I have come to expect from Cubicle 7 products. The GM added a lot of show history tidbits to the descriptions and explanations given in game. That was a nice touch.

Our cast consisted of the tenth doctor, Captain Jack, Martha Jones, and a player created character. We ended up discovering a Cyberman spy device which had somehow gotten onto the Tardis. We think it may have come through K-9s "doggy door."

We had fun, despite only being able to play for a couple of hours.

Saturday - Ran a playtest of Volant, testing out the implementation of combat maneuvers. It worked beautifully so far! Two combats, ass kicked in creative and interesting ways.

Sunday - Ran my many years-long game of In Harm's Way: Napoleonic Naval. A Battle royal against pirates on Culebra Island off Puerto Rico. Pirates turn out to be French Regulars sans uniform, but not sans culottes. Superior - actually flawless - French tactics are eventually defeated by A: a pivotal LUCK call, B: Superior Numbers, and C: an amazing run of luck by one PC. Still trying to figure out *why* French soldiers are in mufti.

Monday - Ran a session of Pigboats on IRC for one player - an XO getting his boat ready for patrol. Very interesting dynamic, and a horrible dice result will reap interesting benefits in the future!

Saturday - Ran my East India Company game for my new crew which meets up once a month. This session continued the thread of the ex-thuggee (half breed) PC who finally discovered that his old man has been manipulating the group into starting a war with some Russian emigrés with deadly secrets of their own.

Regards,
David R

Sunday: Played a game of Exalted with local people. I liked playing for a change.

Monday: Ran EON, really liked my scary monster. Netsplit killed momentum though (I think.)

No "I think" about it. The timing couldn't have been worse.

Monday - we playtested Volant: Kingdoms of Air and Stone. The characters belonged to a political cabal who infiltrated a society wedding to sow dissent through outrageous dancing. Mission Impossible meets Footloose. The great backdrop that generating a skyland and association provides really sparked the players imagination.

That is wild, Sean! How did they think of using Dance to subvert the wedding guests? Beautiful!
