Post Some Came Running
I like films.

Glenn Kenny used to be the film critic (hopefully folks appreciate why I didn't just say film reviewer) for the now defunct Premier Movie Magazine.

I've been follwoing his blog for some time now. You'll also find links to the Auteur's Notebook another fine site where various critics/bloggers talk about movie stuff.

I like films.

Cool! I'll check it out.

I've just discovered that Mick LaSalle (longtime reviewer for the San Francisco Chronicle) has a podcast. It's really enjoyable.

I don't have reference for this, but I lived in the Bay Area during the mid to late 90's and in one of his reviews (I can't remember for the life of me which) he predicted that CGI would go nowhere as an fx technology. I found it amusing at the time and its even more amusing now.

CGI going no where, huh? Well Kenny raved about American Beauty....something which many have never let him live down.

For what it's worth, for the most part, I like movies better than I like films. I especially like movies with lots of explosions, beatings, robots, super-heroes, giant monsters,one-liners, evil getting punished, half dressed girls and space ships. I have the tastes of a 12 year old.

This is quite possible. He can be all over the map. Sometimes I think he's completely insane, but I always respect him for his open-minded approach and his support for hong kong cinema long before mainstream critics deemed it acceptable to consider real cinema. He also doesn't sleep on odd little action movies.

Don't watch The Wild Bunch, then.
