I'm not sure yet - but I've been looking at it like this:

Now this has a couple of new possible results - Laceration and Adrenaline Flood - which I haven't defined yet. But I like the symmetry they provide (at least today).

As for Simon - well, you know the open road is always an option. And Tim has your book....

I should note that at low levels, the first two possible results are essentially the same. While I haven't spelled out the effects of a Cure Serious Wounds, I would think it might be one of the few things that could get around the Fatal Wound (or maybe I need another spell of Cure Fatal Wound!).

But at low levels, it makes no difference - so right now the chances of death are over 8%. Not high, but you also roll more on the chart at low levels because you can get to zero hit points much more quickly. Changing to using the 3d6 approach would be drop that down to under 2%.

What I'm really thinking is how you could set this up to turn the dials. Don't care about death? Make a a straight d12; 8.33% for each possible roll including death! Don't want death to be lurking around every corner run it up to 4d6 wherein death, assuming just a result of 4 is used to represent it, would be only .08%!

So basically you give the players the option to choose wich table to use?
Or is that die based too?
And unless whip suddenly passes before we get to a place with authorities Simon is gone, he will go back to tim's looking to spark a deal for more knowledge or possibly an apprentice arrangment.

Sleep is a magic user spell not a cleric spell.
So are we gonna play Simons escape out or just roll me up a new character?
Im good either way.

It's a way over-powered 1st level Magic User Spell. Trust me, I'm not the only one who thinks so.

Quit crying about Simmon (two m's? who knew?). Why don't you just play and quit worrying about it.
