I think downloads will work fine. I mean, I would have fallen to my knees in thanks even if I did have to go to your accursed site and wade through your marketing tripe just to get to a couple of teams. :)

It is horrible, ain't it? :D

25 man roster? Depends. I could maybe squeeze in four to a page, that would be seven pages, or three to a page would be 10 pages. What I am thinking about now is maybe making up a quick fix in the book for opponents - basically a line of stats for various characters you could just use wherever - and a full team or two to download to fill in your own team's roster, with traits and edges complete. That's my usual style for other games! :D

Yeah....that sounds like a good solution. Too many pages to include. The download sounds like the way to go.

Cool! I'm working on it! :D

Of course, if anyone else wanted to post up teams, I'm cool with that too!

I was answering a comment on my blog when I remembered that when I was about 9-10 years old - so forty-five or six years ago - my friends and I created baseball teams. They had their own cards with their stats on the back which I drew up. Heck, I created a world for them to play in, with maps and everything. I also created disks for Strat-O-Matic for them based on their stats, which we played like crazy. I had *completely* forgotten about this until just then.

OK! Those of you I have sent the Playtest document to should also have received a table for one-roll opponents. This has been integrated into the main document so in the future the one page table will not be handed out separately.

I'm also building up sample teams. They will be available as separate, free DLs. I'm probably going to make up at least a couple of teams, and maybe more.

Clash, I appreciate the one roll oppnents. I would like a bit of flavor in the actual book. It gives me ideas and options. I think a sample team would be helpful, even at the cost of page count. Maybe do a starting roster instead of a whole 25-man team?

I guess I could do that. 10 characters wouldn't take much space.

Hey Clash, I am re-making the Rumblers with the new playtest doc. The team budget is really cool, I prefer it in there to just making a superstar team. The manager charge. Is a neat meta RPG element, too.
My one point of confusion was how the chargen begins by innumerating the process of making a ballplayer and then you go into Edges and then Traits when neither were mentioned in the 5 step process earlier.

FYI - the new and improved Joe Mattingly is looking pretty buff!

Sorry, but struck with a thought. I get that Edges are conditional and affect the TN and Traits are personality quirks and affect the number of dice rolled, but why two systems?

Because they express two entirely different things. Because they are conditional, and not a resource, Edges can express things that always work, and can be brought into play in every instance. This makes them ideal for things like Lefty-Righty matchups, comfort when working with the media, and the like.

Traits, on the other hand represent extra-ordinary effort. Their nature as expendable resource points which are part of the character makes them perfect for this. As expendable resources, they need to be more powerful than edges, which require no resources to initiate.

Thus the two levels.
