New Term for a common affliction: Corvus Disorder
Corvus Disorder: the condition in some tabletop gamers to be distracted from their current games and projects by a new and different rpg. The distracting rpg need not be new to the market, just new to the gamer. Named for the tendency of Crows to collect shiny items. Formerly called Gamer ADD. Renamed out of respect for people suffering from an actual medical condition.

Awesome. Sounds much more Star Trek than Gamer ADD as well. I've definitely got a low-lying case of Corvus Disorder, that flares up from time to time. I find forcing myself to review something or play something really helps to keep me focused for brief periods. It also has the end effect of making me realize whether I really like a game as much as I thought I did when I was in the throes of a Corvus outburst.

I'm definitely a victim. My group won't play anything but GURPS and D&D 3e under anything less than pain of death, but I keep buying games like Ars Magica and getting myself worked up over nothing. Kinda like going to a strip-club I guess - lots of hot chicks you can spend tons of money on for no payoff.

If I knew the cure, I would happily let you know. I think the only treatment is playing a lot of games. That might get the "flashes-in-the-pan" out of your system or reveal them to be worthy of your attention.
My own group plays a vartiety of games, but we also rotate gm duties, so my latest crush rarely gets to see play before the novelty wears off. Sadly, by then, I've already purchased the game .

I would point out that Corvus Disorder is good for the industry. Hell, it may be necessary for the industry.

Re: New Term for a common affliction: Corvus Disorder
Hi, my name is Drohem and I've suffered a long time from this condition.
*Hi Drohem*
My condition has become more severe and acute in the last year since my long time gaming group has literally sworn off all other game systems except for 4e D&D. In years past, they were willing to try new things and experiment with new games which scratched my itch for games other than the group standards. Now, I suffer in quiet solitude. Although, I've found some fleeting relief in play-by-post games in the last year.

I've been lurking for a bit, but that looked like the perfect excuse to disengage Lurk Mode.
